Annual Events:

  1. Promotion Sunday: July 31

    1. This will be your child’s first Sunday at FUMY. In the Morning we will have a Sunday School open house, so you have the opportunity to stop by and see where your child will have Sunday School, and meet their teacher.
In the afternoon, we will be heading to the Nashville Sounds Game. We will leave the church at 4:30, and we will return after the game. Upcoming 7th graders will receive a ticket for the game and a voucher for food. Other youth members will pay $12 for the same ticket with food voucher.

  2. Disciple Now: Aug 5-7

    1. Disciple Now is an evangelical weekend extravaganza where the youth learn about Jesus and having a blast in fellowship with each other. There are sessions and activities at the church, and the youth spend the night in homes of church members who live in the area close to the church.

  3.   Fall Retreat: October

    1. Time spent in the great outdoors to refuel, and experience God afresh. We also make effort to promote connection between the students.

  4. Boys Retreat: (The BR) November

    1. To call this event rustic, would likely be an understatement. The BR takes seriously the call for all men to head out into the woods and make it on their own. Rest assured, it is safe, there will be food, there will be shelter - likely it won’t be comfortable though. It is a memorable time for sure.

  5. Christmas Party: December

    1. This is a typical Christmas party.

  6. Valentines Banquet:February 11

    1. This is a fundraiser in which your student can earn funds for his/her “credit account.” It is usually a musical production, with dinner served to guests who purchase tickets. Musical or theatrical acts are solicited from all students, and we strive to have ever student involved on stage in some way.

  7. Girls Retreat: (The GR) TBD

    1. Normally held at Beersheba Springs Assembly, this is an opportunity for the Girls of FUMY to grow in relationships with each other and God.

  8. Workship: March 9-10

    1. Workship is an event aimed specifically at getting students to recognize that honoring God is not something to be relegated to Church life, or church activities alone, but must extend to life every day in “normal” situations. This is an overnight event, with lodging at the church.

  9. Road Trip: June 23-28

    1. The destination for RoadTrip changes every year. We set off in the Church bus for a week in June with the explicit goal of realizing that people are the same wherever we might go ... they share the same needs, the same fears, the same ambition, the only thing that changes is the situation they find themselves in.

  10. Choir Tour

    1. There are both middle and high school choir tours. The locations of Choir Tours change every year, but in general you can anticipate lots of performing combined with fun.

Weekly Events:

  1. Discipleship Project: Wednesdays 6:00-7:30
We meet for a short time of corporate worship lead by alternating musicians from across FUMC, and then break up into small groups, which generally remain the same from week to week, which study various topics.

  2. Sunday School: Sunday Mornings 9:50-10:40
Starting at 9:30, students are invited to hang out in the youth room, where they just chill, or interact with various councilors. At 9:50 we break off into grade specific Sunday school classes. We strive to have consistent teachers, who teach through a predetermined curriculum.

  3. Youth Fellowship: Sunday Afternoons: Middle School @ 5:00, High School @ 7:00
FUMY Fellowship is geared to be an entry level event, which means that we don’t assume a high level of familiarity with the Bible or with Church. Instruction is generally topical, and uses a lot of media (video, music, web, etc). This year the teaching of our Youth Fellowship will be centered around our annual theme, “PULSE.”

  4. Choir Rehearsal: Sunday Afternoons: High School @ 5:00, Middle School @ 7:00
This is a one hour Choir rehearsal which happens in the Choir Room under the Sanctuary each week. The Youth Choir is very active, preforming both at our Church and other places throughout the year.

  5. Sunday Dinner: Sunday @ 6:00
Between FUMY Fellowship we have dinner in the Fellowship Hall. The dinner is catered by our kitchen staff, and costs $4.00. Oftentimes Noland or Daryn organizes a legendary crazy invented game after dinner for all.

  6. Second Saturday FUMY Service Saturday: Second Saturday of every month
Generally from 8:00-12:00, we go out into the community and meet people and their needs. The goal here is to be actively involved in the Murfreesboro community, giving the gospel feet, acting out the gospel. The specific times and projects change from month to month based on the needs of the projects that we will be doing. So, make sure to read our weekly emails to stay informed of the details, or you can always call the office if you have questions.
